Dynamics 365 finance and operations vs business central

To be honest, there’s nothing in D365BC that D365FO can’t duplicate or outperform. This isn’t to say that BC isn’t capable of providing excellent service to thousands of businesses all around the world.

So, what are the big-ticket differentiators that have you leaning toward one option over the other?

Features

If your company requires the following, D365FO is probably the one for you…

  • Inter-company trading on a global scale.
  • Financial conformity (Country localisations available).
  • Functional differences in the supply chain.
  • Manufacturing can be divided into two types: process manufacturing and mixed-mode manufacturing.

If you don’t have any of the above, D365BC should suffice.

Budget

In general, D365BC is roughly 30% less expensive to implement than D365FO. So, if D365BC is implemented in a manufacturing company and BC is estimated to take 250 man-days of Microsoft Partner resource, D365FO will take roughly 750 man-days (rule of thumb).
